My experience as the mom with sober living facilities

I do feel it's important for them to take that next step to sober living for awhile before just going back home.  

My experience with Dalton was, he would do 10 days of detox, then 30 days in rehab.  They would try to find a sober living that has a spot open and try to get it close to family.   Most of them said they do daily drug/alcohol testing,  they give them chores that must be done properly & they must have a full time job within a week.   Now,  these places have been around awhile & they know who hires them and who don't,  often times Dalton didn't like who they suggested so he'd waste 2 weeks finding a job.  Some places have a van to take you to work and home but it's always only certain hours.  So fast food jobs where you have to stay until 10pm or later,  no ride for you.  So, that's when family comes in,  you give rides or by an Uber because remember they just got the job, no check for at least 2 weeks and when you move in to the house you have to pay 2 weeks up front (in my case paid by family because Dalton had no money saved) plus they have to have all their own food, water bottles, sheets for whatever size bed they have, their own tv or radio, plates, cups, silverware, toliet paper, soap, laudry soap.  So it was usually between $400-$500 to get his 2 weeks of rent, food and household needs & i can tell you doing this 5, 6 - 9, 10-12 times between my entire family we struggled!  So be prepared.  IF we have funds we can help with this, but lately we have not had the funds to help for that.
